Our Vacation in Pictures

Oh, hi there!

Cali and I just got back from a glorious 10 days of beautiful Southern weather and we return to what?

Oh, right.

Snow, snow, and more snow.

I must really love my husband.

Yeah, you're right. I do.

I really, really, really do.

Anyways, I'm going to quit whining about the horrible weather now and share some fun in the sun from our time down South! Now, there's quite a lot so just bear with me...

This is on the flight to Atlanta. She's watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with T's headphones. Cutest thing ever, right?

The first morning we were in Atlanta, she woke up suuuuper happy. She must've known we were in beautiful weather.

Of course the first thing we did was go to the park and soak up some natural Vitamin D.

She loves to swing. The issue is getting her out of the swing.

My mother made her a scarf-headwrap-thingy. It'll come in handy now.

She. loves. kids. Seriously. As soon as she sees Cooper (my 9 year old cousin) or little kids, she gets giddy. It's freaking adorable.

This is my granddad which makes him Cali's great-grandfather. I loved watching them bond!

And this is my dad. It takes Cali a little while to warm up to new people, especially men, but he saved her from bedtime twice so she loves him now.

"In my Christmas jammies." YouTube that. Also, is it too late or too early for Christmas PJs?

Oh dear. This is her new "trick". You stick a phone in front of her face and say "cheese" and this is what you get. I hope she outgrows that creepy smile...

Just blowing raspberries and using her monkey feet.

Sometimes I look at her and my heart literally wants to burst with love and pride.

This is Cooper and it shows you just how happy the girl is with him. Don't let his face fool you. He loves her a whole lot too!

Basketball! Now that's a real sport.

*Wink Wink*

This is after my dad saved Cali from bedtime. She's enjoying being up late. Normally I lay her down and she falls asleep without a peep. Eeeevery now and then she'll start fussing so my dad went and told her she didn't have to go to bed yet. What else are granddads for??

We're blessed enough to have a private gym where my parents live so Cali got to work out with me. She's on the Tracy Anderson plan.

This is her first time feeding herself out of the pouch. She's much smarter/more capable than I give her credit for sometimes.

She got her a new chair!

Don't worry. We'll paint it a "girl color". People get onto me all the time for not putting her in tons of pink or putting bows in her hair. I'll ignore those complaints but I will paint the chair purple? for you.

Creepy smile.

Despite what it looks like, that's not a tooth up top. It's a piece of avocado.

Redneck baby.

Don't yell at me. Someone is sitting right next to her at all times while she's on the table.

This is a new face too. I don't know who my kid's been hanging around but they need to lay off the scary faces.

She loved the guitar.

Veering away from Cali for half a second, I wanted to share this sad disaster of a cake with you. Because of Cali's food allergies, I'm having to buy her special cake mix and icing for her smash cake coming up. While I am super excited that I found this cake (because I am NOT a baker and attempting to bake a cake in general for me is dangerous; much less a cake with a million special ingredients) it is $6 a box and $5 for the frosting. I didn't want to screw up an $11 cake so I wanted to practice making this cake with a cheaper cake mix. This picture shows the results. I obviously have more practicing to do.

More bonding time with "Babu" (Pronounced bah-boo and is Swahili for 'grandfather'. We have no idea why he picked this name. We just go with it.).

And lastly, I had to share this one. This is my grandmother riding the 4 wheeler with me. All the while yelling "Don't ride through the poo poo!" and holding on for dear life while riding through the trails.

We had a great trip with great weather and can't wait to get back! Until then, we're really enjoying being back "home" with T.

Random Randomness

Hey all!  My brain is a little scrambled so this may come out as a blog post that has been dropped out of nowhere.

1.  It has been an interesting week here in our home as we had between 8-12 inches of snow on Wednesday and Cali got to experience all of 60 seconds of sitting on snow.  She is the pink marshmallow in the picture.  Her snow suit is a little too big and immobilizes her which might be one of the cutest things I've ever seen!

2.  Tonight we purchased tickets to fly Cali and myself to Atlanta!  I'm so excited to be able to get into some warmer weather and to see family.  It also happens to fall near my birthday.  Feel free to send presents.  It is going to be hard to be away from T while he stays in Boston, but it will be good to get home and recharge my batteries.  Being cold is exhausting. See? Cali thinks so too...

3.  I'm working on a longer post that I may or may not ever finish on common food intolerances and recipes that involve healthier substitutes.  Stay on the look out for that!

4.  Something else to look forward to in the near future.....our first giveaway!  I'll be reviewing an item that I think Cali will love and I can't wait to share it with one lucky reader.  Stay tuned for details.

To round things out, I'm going to leave you with 2 more really cute pictures...

One of Cali's favorite things to do now is wake T up. He sleeps with a pillow over his head and she thinks it's hilarious to lift up the pillow and "find" him. I swear my heart literally melts every time she does this.

As you can see, she's starting to realize that people/things can be hiding behind or under things. Anytime she hears T in the shower, she crawls in there and pulls open the shower curtain to "find" him again. "Surpriiiiise!"

Anyways, that's all for tonight.  Thanks for stopping by.

Our Christmas in Pictures

Hello!

Sorry I've been MIA for a little bit but I was enjoying the holidays with my fam. Now they're over and here I am.

That rhymed.

I thought I'd share our Christmas with a few (OK, a lot of) pictures. Sit back and buckle up. Here we go.

This is the Friday morning before Christmas. We left for Bama that day to see my family and I caught this cute picture before she woke up. It's been a while since I've gotten a precious sleeping picture.

She's been teething for a while and they finally all came in at once. Our dental bill will be huge.

I always swore I'd never be the mom that uses TV as a babysitter, yet here I am. When you're trying to pack for a week and your husband's not home, what's a girl to do? Fry up some foot and insert it into mouth. Delicious.

Cali got to spend some time with her great grandmother.

And I made her a holiday head warmer. T hates it.

She thoroughly enjoyed some quality play time with her BFF, Cooper.

My family is exhausting and our nap schedule kinda went out the window. She took a lot of car naps.

Of all of her Christmas toys she got, this cup was her favorite.

Kidding.

Kind of.

Here she is opening her first ever Christmas present!

She loves the (SUPER BLURRY) hat!

Just kidding! It was a (SUPER BLURRY but still super precious) swim diaper!

It's got these huge flowers on the bum and it's great.

She acquired some Bama swagger.

This might be one of the most unflattering (AND SUPER BLURRY) pictures that T and I have ever taken but look at Cali's face. She's so freaking happy.

What's with the blur???? Oh well. T and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve! Best 4 years of his life.

This was us on Christmas morning. T wasn't thrilled about being awake so early but he was a trooper.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

My ginormous family.

We're 98% sure that T doesn't have something gross on his sleeve and that it's just the light.

I mean, seriously.

Cali really liked the wrapping paper and bows.

My parents with Cali. She loves shiny things. T is in trouble.

She's sooooo slllooooowwww at unwrapping presents.

But she had fun.

What now?

Oh! A box!

She's giving somebody the look.

Muwahahaha. This makes me laugh.

T and I took our ninja/hippie test and passed with flying colors.

My great grandmother (Cali's great GREAT grandmother!) obviously wasn't ready for the picture and Cooper photo bombed us. Whatever. That's how we roll.

I loooooove my Kathryn. She's my sista from another mista.

Aaaaand we'll end things with some more BLURRY PICTURES.

Anyways. 90% of those were taken with a phone so you'll have to get over the blurriness.

On a completely unrelated note…

TODAY IS T'S (non)BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I say "non" because he doesn't like to acknowledge it but I do.  So happy (non)birthday to the most amazing man I know.

Also, it was Cali's 9 MONTH BIRTHDAY yesterday. I (per my usual) didn't take pictures on the actual day but I fully intend to do it today. Only 1 day late. But I did get this pic with my phone.

One day I just mmaaayyyy be that organized and on-time mom but today is not the day.

And let's be honest… tomorrow is probably not that day either.

Oh well.

Until next time!
